Arthur Hughes, oil on board. 'Ayrshire Glen' c.1895.

Pre-Raphaelite painter, Arthur Hughes, retired to the London suburbs and a life of quiet domesticity and artistic endeavour after his initial burst of fame as a follower of the Brotherhood. This mid-to late work shows that he had lost none of his delicacy and poetic feeling for landscape.
