Farmyard, Isle of Wight 1944, Thomas Hennell

We have traced this typical Hennell plein air watercolour of a farmyard to the outskirts of the town of Sandown on the Isle of Wight, using Hennell's inscription - 'Jaels Lane' - which can be seen in the bottom centre of the work. This probably dates it to 1944, when Hennell was stationed at Portsmouth to record Admiralty subjects.
