Hay Rick with waggon, figures and a dog, Autumn 1941, Thomas Hennell

Thomas Hennell was a romantic enthusiast for Britain's agricultural past, as well as an artist, and wrote a number of books on the subject of traditional farming practices, particularly those threatened by mass production and industrialisation. He was known to travel miles to record farmers continuing to use traditional methods, such as threshing.
